When you give to Rusty’s Fund at the Amador County Animal Shelter, your generosity helps us provide additional medical care and comfort to animals in our care. Donations support treatments, procedures, and specialized needs that go beyond the shelter’s regular budget, helping animals heal and thrive while they wait for their forever homes

Many Ways to Give

We are often asked, “What is the best way to give?”  The answer depends on what works best for you. Below are several ways you can support Rusty’s Fund and help animals in need.

Online Donation

A direct online donation to Rusty’s Fund is the easiest and most common way to give. Rusty’s Fund provides financial support exclusively for Amador County Animal Shelter animals who need costly medical treatments, surgeries, and specialized care not covered by the county budget.

Mail-in Donation

Mail-in donations allow for personal touches like including a note or dedication if the donation is in honor of someone special or in memory of a pet. If you prefer to donate by check or money order, we accept donations through traditional mail. Simply write a check and send it to our address:

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many employers offer matching gift programs that can double—or even triple—the impact of your donation. After donating, simply submit the required paperwork through your employer’s matching gift program, and they will match your contribution.

Donating Through Third-Party Platforms

You can also support the shelter through third-party fundraising platforms such as GoFundMe, JustGiving, or GlobalGiving. These platforms allow you to create your own fundraising campaign, share your story, and encourage others to give—amplifying your impact even further.

In Memory or In Honor of Someone

A meaningful way to give is by making a donation in memory of a loved one or a cherished pet. If you wish, we can send an acknowledgment card to the family or individual being honored. This is a beautiful way to celebrate a legacy while helping animals in need.

Gift Donations

Donations to Rusty’s Fund make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, holidays, or other special occasions. You may donate in someone else’s name or encourage friends and family to donate in lieu of traditional gifts.

Planned or Legacy Giving

Planned giving allows you to make a lasting impact on the future of the shelter. Legacy gifts may include cash, stocks, property, retirement assets, or a percentage of your estate. These contributions help ensure the shelter can continue providing care and support for animals for years to come.

Retirement Fund Giving

Some donors may be eligible to make tax-advantaged donations directly from retirement accounts, helping to offset required minimum distributions. These gifts are processed through Rusty’s Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating under the umbrella of the Amador Community Foundation.
