1. Shelving & Shelf Reading - Help keep the library organized and easy to use.
- Shelve returned materials
- Ensure books are in correct order (shelf reading)
- Help maintain an organized collection.
2. Materials Processing & Maintenance - Support the behind-the-scenes work that keeps materials ready for use.
- Label and prepare new materials
- Repair or clean items
- Assist with collection upkeep
3. Programming Support - Help bring library activities & programs to life.
- Set up and organize programs
- Assist during events
- Support staff with activiteis
4. Literacy Volunteer - Make a direct impact by helping adults build skills and confidence.
- Provide 1-on-1 learning support through tutoring sessions once/week (~1 to 1.5 hours)
- Help with reading, writing, forms, and technology
- Support job readiness and life skills
- Help adults support their family learning

4. General Help / Flexible Support - Pitch in where help is needed.
- Assist staff with daily needs
- Help with special projects
- Complete administrative or general library support tasks.
Time Commitment - Amador County Library Volunteering

- Opportunities range from occasional help to weekly commitments
- Literacy volunteers typically commit to 2-3 hours per week

How to Get Started

- Connect with Library staff.
- Complete onboarding (Note: Volunteer candidates will complete pre-employment with Amador County, including undergoing a background check).
