In an emergency, every second counts - If we can't find you, we can't help you!

This simple fact underscores the importance of clearly visible address signs during an emergency. Every second counts, and a reflective sign helps Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement quickly locate your property. These seconds can mean the difference between life and death or saving your home.

For a better chance of a swift response, we suggest:

  • Your address numbers should be a minimum of three inches tall (maximum of 12 inches.)
  • Your address numbers should be made of reflective material for easy viewing at night.
  • Your address numbers should contrast with the background color.
  • Your address numbers should be posted at the driveway entrance and be visible from both directions of travel along the road.
  • Your address numbers should not be obstructed by vegetation, or anything else that would conceal them.
  • Your address numbers should be at least 2’6” above the ground, but no higher than 8’ above the ground.
  • For those living in snow country, your address numbers should be high enough so they are not covered by plowed snow.

Investing in a reflective address sign is a simple and affordable step toward helping emergency services find you fast, and the Amador Senior Center makes it even easier!
